With the festive season in full bloom, the retail sector is in the spotlight and the performance of retail players will be an indication of our economic health. It is at this time of the year, that we typically see so many business vying for the attention of the consumer, and lets face it – mobile technology is one of the most personal and relevant ways of engaging people in a meaningful, real-time context. After recently forming a part of the judging panel at the World Retail Awards in Joburg, I found myself wondering if SA brands will be as successful at unlocking mobile value this festive season as compared to their international counterparts.
